Former Arsenal and Inter Milan midfielder Patrick Vieira says Anfield is the best atmosphere he has ever played in during his playing days.

The 46-year-old featured for the Gunners for nine years following his move from Serie A giants from AC Milan in 1996. He played a key role in helping the North Londoners lift the Premier League in 2004 as Invincibles.

Vieira played in many stadiums including Old Trafford, Etihad Stadium, and San Siro in his career, but has chosen Anfield as the best atmosphere he has ever experienced.

He said when asked on BT Sport while previewing the Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter Milan, "Liverpool is one of the best. I think AC Milan, Inter, San Siro is a very special stadium, but Liverpool for me is the best atmosphere that I ever experienced in my life. It's a communion between the players and the fans."

"When they start to sing You'll Never Walk Alone and they make it really special for the players, it creates a bubble, a togetherness between fans and players and I think that gives the extra motivation to the players to give even more. That creates something really special for Liverpool Football Club."

Crystal Palace sacked Vieira as manager of the club following a 12-match winless run last season.

The Frenchman was appointed before the start of the 2021/22 season and led the Eagles to a 12th-placed finish but inconsistent results cost him his job.
