Wide receiver with Brian Callahan connection set to visit with the Titans

The Tennessee Titans have been one of the NFL's biggest spenders in free agency, but the latest report indicated that they might not be done.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that free agent wide receiver Tyler Boyd will meet with the Los Angeles Chargers before visiting with the Tennessee Titans later this week.

Boyd has spent the entirety of his eight-year career with the Cincinnati Bengals, which is where Titans head coach Brian Callahan spent the last five years serving as offensive coordinator.

Boyd has accumulated 513 receptions for 6,000 yards and 31 touchdowns in his career. At 29 years old his value has depreciated, but he would fill a pressing need for Tennessee at the slot position.

Though Boyd has been Cincinnati's third option behind Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, he does have a pair of 1,000-yard seasons to his name (2018 & 2019). Spotrac estimates his market value to hover around the $8-million mark in AAV, which certainly fits in Tennessee's remaining budget of $30 million.

Boyd would slide into a nearly identical role as the one he played in Cincy as Titans' No. 3 option alongside the likes of DeAndre Hopkins and Calvin Ridley. If the Titans are to land Boyd, starting quarterback Will Levis will have all of the weapons necessary in order to become the franchise's first 4,000-yard passer since its move to Tennessee.
