MLB home run props for 5/8: Great price on Verdugo HR

We're still searching for our first home run prop winner of the week, but this Hump Day feels like a perfect time to get it. Here are our favorite three home run bets for Wednesday's MLB slate. 

Christian Walker (+370 FanDuel)

Diamondbacks at Reds, 6:40 p.m. ET

Great American Ball Park is notoriously one of the best stadiums to target with home run props. We want guys who can consistently hit the sweet spot of the bat, and Christian Walker surely qualifies. The Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman ranks fourth in MLB among qualified hitters in barrel rate. He's batting .303 with a .983 OPS and three home runs over the last 15 days. Cincinnati Reds starter Graham Ashcraft has been crushed for five earned runs in each of his two home starts this season, so we like this spot for Walker.

Jose Altuve (+370 DraftKings)

Astros at Yankees, 7:05 p.m. ET

Wednesday night's matchup between the Houston Astros and the New York Yankees should be a gold mine for home run props, as the wind will be blowing strongly out to center field at Yankee Stadium with gusts of up to 30 miles per hour. Let's roll with Jose Altuve, who's batting .324 with a .837 OPS against left-handed pitching this season. He's also batting .296 and slugging .482 in 27 career at-bats against Yankees lefty Carlos Rodon, who's given up four dingers over his last two starts. 

Alex Verdugo (+500 FD)

Astros at Yankees, 7:05 p.m. ET

With friendly weather conditions projected at the already hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium, you know we have to double up on this game. For New York, we're targeting Alex Verdugo. The Yankees outfielder is batting .333 and slugging .564 with three home runs in his last 39 at-bats. He's the second-hottest hitter in the Yankees lineup right now, yet he's priced so much higher than four other players in the lineup. We'll gladly take a shot on Verdugo at the price.
