Master Of The Seas Jumps To Fourth In NTRA Top Thoroughbred Poll

Following his win in this weekend's Grade 1 Maker's Mark Mile, Godolphin's Master of the Seas has joined the top 10 of the NTRA Top Thoroughbred Poll. The 6-year-old son of Dubai won last fall's Breeders' Cup Mile at Santa Anita, and made his 2024 debut a winning one when defeating stablemate Naval Power by 2 1/4 lengths over the Keeneland lawn. 

Trainer Charlie Appleby told Keeneland publicity that both Master of The Seas and Naval Power would remain at Keeneland and ship to Churchill Downs, where an option for them might be the $1 million Old Forester Bourbon Turf Classic (G1) going a mile and eighth on May 4.

More newcomers to this week's Top Thoroughbred Poll included weekend winners from Oaklawn Park. Adare Manor won the G1 Apple Blossom to debut at seventh in the poll, while Skelly won the G3 Count Fleet to jump to tenth position.

Senor Buscador continues to lead the NTRA Top Thoroughbred Poll after his win in the G1 Saudi Cup and third-place finish in the G1 Dubai World Cup. National Treasure maintained his rank in second, while Idiomatic is ranked third ahead of a likely 2024 debut at Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby weekend.
